We left off last month with a group of 10th grade guys
spending the weekend at our house for "Disciple Now." Here are a
couple of more pictures from that weekend. On Saturday night, all of the
different homes were to meet back at the church for a group time and a skit
competition. Each home was assigned a different old TV theme song to
which they had to create a lip sync and skit for. The TV theme song
assigned to us was "Speed Racer," a very appropriate song. We made up
t-shirts with a custom made "SR" logo on the front and racing checkers on
the sleeves for the skit. |
 |
Here is the final image from the lip sync/skit that we
performed. I came out with a checkered flag strapped to the back of my
chair and a black-and-white ascot and Caitlin's pink Barbie bike helmet,
supposedly making fun of the whole Speed Racer theme. The guys did a
kind of cabaret tribute to Speed Racer. It was incredibly corny.
But all of our hard work paid off as we got a cheering standing ovation and
out of 15 groups, we took home the top prize which was $10 movie gift
certificates for each of us! |

Angela leads a Wednesday night group of 7th graders in what
they call "Kids Quest." This night they were making "Friendship Cake"
mixes to give to whomever they wanted to. |
 |
Caitlin lost one of her front teeth and the other one is on
its way out. I tell ya, trying to get her to let you help her pull her
loose teeth out is, well, like pullin' teeth. |

Devin, Caitlin, and Bradley take a break over at the park. |

 |
For Caitlin's 7th birthday she opted for a slumber party
rather than the traditional day-time, mixed gender bash. Devin and I
went to spend the night over at the Cross' house while the girls took over
our home. Here Emily gets some major Care Bear-hugs. I heard reports of
Caitlin and one of her friends asking Angela if she would fix them pancakes
at 2:30 in the morning. Uh, I think it's time for you to go to sleep. |
 |
Angela sewed a 50's outfit for Caitlin's dress up day at
school. |
 |
As most all of the country has experienced a harsh late
winter, we were no exception here in north Texas. This is a shot from
our front yard looking out over the park. The kids got two days off
from school. We got to go sledding down the hill by the school and had
a great time. |
 |
It was so cold that we decided to roast some marshmallows
by the fire. Devin took it one step further and decided to make a
camping trip out of it with his backpack. Someone forgot to remind him
to bring his long-johns though! |
