Caitlin with her friends, Brooklyn and Tori. |

Once a week at school, the kindergarteners take a trek over
to the fourth grade class and each of the older kids reads to the younger
kids. Then the younger ones read to the older ones with them helping.
I visited Caitlin's class this day and got to tag along. Here Caitlin sits
with her "Book Buddy."
Caitlin's kindergarten class. Caitlin is third from the right. These were
taken on "Crazy Hair Day." |
 |
Devin is Fire Captain for a few minutes at our local fire
department. |
 |
Caitlin's new P.J.'s all in pink, including her eyes. |
 |
I had the opportunity to speak to a couple of hundred
people at two Upward basketball game halftimes. I got to speak about my
accident at 14, my disability and sports achievements, and the drive that we
all should have to overcome our circumstances whatever they are. Upward
basketball is a children's basketball league sponsored by our church. At
every halftime they have someone present a speech, devotional or message.

Caitlin's school had "Crazy Hair Day." Here Mom fixes her
up.
But Caitlin wasn't too happy at first because 1) she thought she looked
dumb and 2) it hurt to do all of that twisting and pulling of hair.
But, at school, she was a hit. |
 |
And of course, wouldn't you know they had their Awards
Ceremony on "Crazy Hair Day!" What good timing. But, Caitlin won two
awards, one for perfect attendance and another for excelling at artistry. |
 |
Our friends', Guy and Katie Nance's, son Cooper. Why he
decided to run around with dish gloves rubber-banded around his hands, I
don't know. But, if there's one thing I've learned by being a dad, it's
"don't ask." |
 |
I know I'm biased, but I just think my wife is gorgeous. |
 |
Caitlin and Devin get some bowling time in. |
 |
Caitlin tremendously enjoys drawing and writing stories.
She dominates my dry-erase board. Here is one of her convoluted stories. She
creates it, then edits and edits, moving parts of it around with arrows,
adding words here and there until it's just like she envisions it. |

Devin turned 4! Birthdays are all about excess and
unabashed selfishness in a happy sort of way. Licking icing off of the
candles.
Opening umpteen presents...and good ones! |

 |
When we returned home from Devin's party, he was pleasantly
surprised to find this wooden train set and table waiting for him. It has
toy bins underneath to store pieces and other toys. He loves it! |
 |
I asked Devin to pick up his room. He was complaining that
he couldn't move his bike/scooter. And I was like, "you move and ride that
all of the time." I didn't realize he meant moving it UP. He came to get me
to approve his work, and when I opened the closet doors, I almost fell down
laughing. He had stacked as much as he could get into his closet, and the
bike was on the top! I have no idea how he managed to lift that thing up on
top and leave the other toys standing. |
 |
Devin hangs on as I pull him around Arlington Skatium. |

 |
Hmmmph...Devin is left to open his Mac 'N Cheese packet,
spills it on the floor and then proceeds to clean it up, with his tongue and
body.
So, Mom says it's time for a sink bath. Of course Devin takes right to it
and has a good ole time. |
