Kayla Pellan came over for a girls Slumber
Party with Caitlin. Out came the Easy Bake Oven and generated were two
lovely cake looking things. 1. They put birthday candles on them and
presented them to me, even though my birthday is in April...and I'm getting
old enough that I don't want to hurry the birthday process any more than its
natural progress.
2. The girls in their matching oversize sleep t-shirts display their
creations.
3. The recipient with the taste-test. I intentionally didn't include the
next picture after the taste because it was a rather unpleasant look on my
face. |

Caitlin and Devin finished their swim lessons
for the summer. They are really doing well. Here Caitlin gets a diving
lesson. |

|
1. Angela made the birthday cake for
our friend, Christopher Lemoine's, skating birthday party. She's so creative
and artistic!
2. Devin looks so hip. He's got it under control...after I got the
bleeding under control from his knee, which works great for me, being that
I'm a control freak.
3. Oops, maybe not. Devin's splits personality is showing, and something
else, too (not really).
4. Mommy and Caitlin get jiggy on the floor.
5. Caitlin really got the hang of the skates. What a beauty! |

This requires some 'splainin. Our neighbors
car had the side window broken by vandals. When they called the police, our
church friend (and Arlington police officer), Tim Tremaine, showed up for
the call. I asked him to show the kids his police car. He also cuffed 'em
and stuffed 'em. Here Devin gets a lesson in our legal system. |

July 4th! After a exhaustingly full day at our
friends, the Jiles's, house swimming and eating, and then fireworks at the
Ballpark, and 45 minutes of traffic, we drove out of the city limits and had
fun with fireworks of our own. Devin and Caitlin were terrified of the
locale in the boondocks as well as the flaming sticks called sparklers. But
they warmed up to them eventually. As you can see in the second picture,
Caitlin's head is a ball of flames. We didn't get home until 1:45 am. I
know, we're awful parents getting the kids to bed so late, but man did we
have a fun day. |

|
1. For Angela's birthday celebration
we went to Medieval Times. It was really an experience. An experience that
Devin will never remember for the most part. He conked out right after
eating. And that place ain't cheap, neither! Could have left him in the car
for free (I'm just kidding...don't call CPS!)
2. Hmmm...the sign says, "Do not sit in chair." But poor Caitlin can't
read yet.
3. So, she sits in it to experience medieval torture firsthand and
second-bottom.
4-7. Assorted pictures from the evenings entertainment. |

We try to make sure the kids enjoy going to
church, but every once in a while you can have a horrible setback. Here
Mommy tries to get the tangles out of Caitlin's hair on a Sunday morning. |

 |
1. Angela and her sister, Charity,
took the kids to Six Flags.
2. Devin drives the train.
3. The looks of trepidation on the faces of those on the Conquistador.
"Will I have fun? Will I be scared? Will I throw up?" |

 |
We took a three-day jaunt to Hillsboro and
Waco. We did a lot of shopping and had a mess of fun. 1. Caitlin models
her newly purchased feather boa.
2. Devin and Caitlin play on a massive play area.
3. Angela and Caitlin board the virtual roller coaster and await the
launch.
4. The virtual roller coaster flips every which way to completely confuse
and bewilder the rider all the while projecting a computer-generated outer
space roller coaster video in front of the riders. When I rode it, my legs
were flying everywhere. Then the guy stopped the ride and opened the door. I
said, "What happened?" He said, "you hit the panic button." I said, "No I
didn't." Then I realized my foot had flung over and slammed the button. Ugh,
let's do it again. Good thing we hadn't eaten dinner yet.
5, 6. With a professional shopper like Mom around, Devin is learning
early what a man's position is to be while the lady shops. Sitting. |

We had a Speed family get-together at my
brother, Ron's, house. 1. They have two turtles as pets. It's amazing how
much like dogs they behave (the turtles, not my brother's family). They like
to be pet as long as they feel comfortable and they are really quick believe
it or not. Here my nephew, Josh, and I hold them. Sorry for the naked chest,
but it was really hot!
2. Mom Speed, 92 year old next-door neighbor, and Mamaw Speed eat and
talk.
3. Devin is so GQ.
4. The Speed grandkids minus two. From left to right: (back row) Chris,
Matthew, Madeline, Caitlin, Megan, Devin, Shanae, Lindsey, (front row) Josh,
Shannon, Ronny, and Jennifer. |

My brother, Ron, is a Dallas Sheriff's Deputy.
At the end of a chase on I-20 in Duncanville to apprehend the driver of a
stolen dump truck, he parked his car alongside the truck (he has all of this
on video from the cars including the chase and apprehension). His police
vehicle is seen to the right, after a dramatic fire caused by the very hot
catalytic converter coming in contact with the very dry Texas summer grass;
one vehicle down (the car was toast), and one suspect in custody. It turned
out later to be a legal repo of the dump truck and the suspect was freed. |
